In a dystopian future where society is rigidly controlled by an authoritarian regime, a former elite soldier, Jax (Jason Momoa), lives in hiding after a devastating betrayal. When his estranged daughter is kidnapped by the very organization he once served, Jax must confront his past and unleash his dormant fighting skills. He teams up with a grizzled mercenary, Kaito (Lee Byung-hun), and a resourceful underground operative, Anya (Jena Malone), to infiltrate the enemy's stronghold and rescue her before it's too late.
