Plot Summary

Ten years after the events of The Silence of the Lambs, FBI agent Clarice Starling is brought back into the chilling world of Dr. Hannibal Lecter when he begins to communicate with her again. Meanwhile, a wealthy and vengeful Florentine banker, Mason Verger, who was horribly disfigured by Lecter, seeks revenge and enlists the help of Inspector Pazzi to track down the cannibalistic psychiatrist. Starling finds herself in a deadly game of cat and mouse as she races to find Lecter before Verger, while grappling with her own complex past with him.

While some praised the performances, particularly Hopkins, the film was criticized for its excessive violence and perceived departure from the psychological thrills that made 'The Silence of the Lambs' so successful. It was a commercial success, however.
