In a secret facility known as the Dollhouse, terminally ill or desperate individuals, known as "Actives," are imprinted with thousands of personalities and sent on assignments for wealthy clients. Echo, one of the most capable Actives, begins to retain memories and develop self-awareness, uncovering the dark secrets of the Dollhouse and fighting for her freedom and the freedom of others like her.
