Plot Summary

In a distant star system, the ragtag crew of Serenity, a Firefly-class spaceship, struggles to survive by taking on various smuggling jobs. Led by Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a former soldier disillusioned by the galactic Alliance, the crew includes his loyal second-in-command Zoe, the wisecracking pilot Wash, the formidable Jayne, the empathic healer Simon and his telepathic sister River, and the preacher Book.
