Set in Chicago, the series follows the adventures of Royal Canadian Mounted Police Constable Benton Fraser, who is assigned to the Canadian consulate. Fraser, a man of unwavering morals and impeccable politeness, is assisted by his entirely deaf, but highly intelligent, Doberman Pinscher, Diefenbaker. He frequently teams up with the wisecracking Detective Ray Vecchio to solve crimes, often drawing on his unique wilderness skills and keen observational abilities.
