Plot Summary

Five years after saving New York City, the Ghostbusters are disbanded and their reputation is in shambles. Peter Venkman is hosting a low-rated kids' show, Ray Stantz is running a struggling children's party business, and Egon Spengler is conducting scientific research. However, they are drawn back into action when a new supernatural threat emerges, connected to a river of ectoplasm and a vengeful sorcerer from the past who seeks to conquer the city.

Ghostbusters II received mixed reviews from critics, with many finding it less original and funny than its predecessor. While the cast's chemistry and some of the visual effects were praised, the plot was often criticized for being derivative and the humor less sharp. Audience reception was more favorable, though it did not reach the box office heights of the original.

Fun Fact

The iconic slime that was pumped through the city's subway system was made from a mixture of methylcellulose (used in products like Metamucil), which made it difficult to clean up and adhere to the actors and set.
