Štom stejo mrěje – At the End of the Bread Tree

As a forestry worker, Jürgen Spottke (b. 1941) once helped plant the spruce forests of Upper Lusatia. As a wood artist, he drew on the coexistence of Sorbs and Germans. Today he is watching the forests die from drought and bark beetles. What would remain of Lusatia in a world of monocultures – without the Sorbian/Wendish?
