Plot Summary

In the rough-and-tumble town of Bottleneck, the corrupt Sheriff Keogh rules with an iron fist, aided by his cronies and the sultry saloon singer Frenchy. When the citizens, led by the respectable Mrs. Bontell, try to elect a new sheriff, their candidate is murdered. They call upon Tom Destry Sr., a legendary lawman, but he too is killed. His son, Tom Destry Jr., a gentle and pacifist character who prefers to avoid violence, is then appointed sheriff. Despite his unconventional methods, Destry Jr. gradually brings order to the town, often with the help of his quick-draw father's legendary gun, which he only uses as a last resort, and the burgeoning affection of Frenchy.
