When the crew of the Enterprise returns to Earth, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the preparations of what their fondest is, and has left the very foundation of the Federation in ruin. The captain, James T. Kirk, now leads a man hunt to a dark world of a man, who is a force of destruction in the shape of a man, but the reckoning he seeks becomes more than a game of cat and mouse. He finds that he has to fight for everyone he cares about, because the clock is ticking and all allegiances will be tested in the battle for the future of the human race.
