Plot Summary

The Fourth Doctor and Leela arrive on the planet Xantus, a supposedly idyllic world where inhabitants live in perfect harmony. They soon discover that this utopia is maintained by the Swarm, a hive mind entity that absorbs the consciousness of anyone it encounters. The Doctor must find a way to defeat the Swarm before it engulfs him, Leela, and potentially the entire universe.

Critical Reception

The Invisible Enemy is often considered a weaker entry in Tom Baker's era, with criticism often directed at its convoluted plot, excessive use of monsters, and perceived slow pacing. However, some appreciate its ambitious concept and the performances of the main cast, particularly Tom Baker's portrayal of the Doctor's descent into paranoia. It is also notable for introducing the Doctor's robotic dog, K9, to the series.

What Reviewers Say
