In 1960s Baltimore, Baltimore's most endearingly oversize, overweight, and overjoyed teenage resident, Tracy Turnblad, is determined to win a spot on the local television dance show and, in doing so, change the world. Tracy's big hair and big heart have landed her a spot on the "Corny Collins Show" but soon she finds herself in detention and on the outs with the deliciously menacing producer Velma Von Tussle. Tracy must use her new platform to fight for equality and integration on the show.
