In 1960s Baltimore, Baltimore's most endearingly oversize, overweight, and overjoyed teenage resident, Tracy Turnblad, is determined to win a spot on the local television dance show and, in doing so, change the world. Tracy's big hair and big heart have landed her a spot on the "Corny Collins Show" but soon she finds herself in detention and on the outs with the deliciously menacing producer Velma Von Tussle.
