Plot Summary

A successful but workaholic lawyer, Eli (Ed Asner), is diagnosed with a terminal illness. Given only a short time to live, he decides to reconnect with his estranged daughter, Sarah (Jean Smart), and grandson, Sam (Kyle Schmid). As he attempts to mend their fractured relationship and confront his past regrets, he also finds unexpected romance with a younger woman, Amelia (Rachael Leigh Cook), who helps him to appreciate the remaining time he has.
