In the 17th century, two Portuguese Jesuit priests, Sebastião Rodrigues and Francisco Garrupe, travel to Japan to find their mentor, Cristóvão Ferreira, who has supposedly renounced Christianity. Their journey takes them through a land where Christianity is brutally suppressed, forcing them to confront their faith and face unimaginable challenges as they witness the persecution of Japanese Christians and consider the personal cost of their beliefs.
