Major William Cage, an inexperienced officer with no combat skills, finds himself in a time loop during a brutal alien war. Each time he dies, he wakes up at the beginning of the same day, forced to relive the battle. As he learns from each encounter and death, Cage becomes a more skilled warrior, aided by Special Warrior Rita Vrataski, who has also experienced the time loop.
