In the small Nevada town of Claggett, aspiring songwriter Barney Mayhew dreams of hitting it big. When a wealthy producer, Dino, gets stranded in town, Barney sees his chance. He enlists his best friend, car mechanic and happily married father of five, Orville, to help him impress Dino. To do this, they hire Zelda, a call girl with a heart of gold, to pose as Orville's wife and lure Dino into investing in Barney's songs. However, things quickly spiral out of control as Zelda and Orville begin to fall for each other, and Dino becomes increasingly suspicious.
