In the winter of 1992, aspiring songwriter Song Qinmei falls in love with composer Li Xiang, who is on his way to study in America. Their burgeoning romance is cut short when Li Xiang's father forces him to leave, promising to return for Qinmei. Years later, Qinmei, having pursued her own musical dreams, receives news that Li Xiang has returned to China, prompting a reunion that forces them to confront their past and the choices they made.
