Two best friends, Rafe McCawley and Danny Walker, are fighter pilots for the U.S. Army Air Corps in the late 1930s. Both fall for the same nurse, Evelyn Johnson, creating a complex love triangle. Their lives are irrevocably changed when the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, forcing them to confront the horrors of war and their personal feelings.
