On his 65th birthday, Southern patriarch 'Big Daddy' Pollitt lies on his deathbed suffering from a terminal illness that his family is hiding from him. His favorite son, Brick, a former football hero, drinks heavily and is estranged from his wife, Maggie, who desperately wants to conceive a child to secure her future and the family inheritance.
