Hua Mulan

When the Emperor of China issues a decree that one man from every family must serve in the Imperial Army to defend the country against northern invaders, Hua Mulan, the respected warrior of one man, disguises herself as a man to take her ailing father's place. She is driven by one thing above all else: to bring honor to her country and her family. Mulan soon discovers that acting as a man on the battlefield is a difficult and dangerous undertaking, and she must embrace her true self and her abilities to become one of the greatest warriors the land has ever known.

Disney's live-action adaptation of Mulan received a mixed to positive reception from critics and audiences. While praised for its stunning visuals, impressive action sequences, and strong performance from Yifei Liu, it faced criticism for deviating from the animated classic's plot and tone, and for perceived cultural insensitivity and political messaging.
