A reboot of the classic TV series, CHIPS follows two un-matched California Highway Patrolmen, the strait-laced rookie Frank "Ponch" Poncherello and the veteran hotshot Jon Baker. As they go on patrol, they uncover a major heist ring that is hitting car dealerships across Los Angeles.

CHIPS received generally negative reviews from critics and was a box office disappointment. While some critics appreciated its R-rated comedic take and the chemistry between its leads, many found the humor to be crude and juvenile, the plot nonsensical, and the action sequences uninspired.
