In the near future, astronaut Sam Bell is nearing the end of his three-year solo contract mining helium-3 on the far side of the Moon. His only company is a robot named GERTY and the live transmissions from his wife and daughter back on Earth. As his mission comes to an end, he begins to experience strange hallucinations and uncovers a disturbing truth about his mission and his own existence.
