In a city where everyone assumes heroes disappeared decades ago, a 13-year-old boy discovers that his seemingly ordinary neighbor, Mr. Smith, is actually the legendary vigilante Samaritan, who was presumed dead after a catastrophic battle. As the city grapples with rising crime, the boy, Sam, tries to convince Mr. Smith to return to his heroic ways. However, Mr. Smith is reluctant to embrace his past, burdened by the loss of his brother and the weight of his supposed failure.
