The unjustly convicted investigator Moore Zakhar is released from prison in order to organize the fight against crime, which has increased since the beginning of the German invaders' offensive on Moscow. He is assigned to head the special investigations department and unravel the tangle of mysterious crimes committed by nazi accomplices. Once free, he sets out to fight a gang of saboteurs. Winning this fight will not only be his contribution to the overall victory, but will also allow him to get his wife, who was arrested with him, out of prison.
