Taikichi "Taiki" Kudou, a brave and athletic middle schooler, is suddenly summoned to the Digital World. He and his friends Akari Hinomoto and Zenjirou Tsurugi find themselves in the midst of a war between Digimon factions. Taiki inherits the Fusion Loader, allowing him to fuse Digimon, and becomes the leader of the Fusion Fighters, tasked with gathering the Legendary Digimon and uniting the Digital World.
