Star Butterfly, a magical princess from another dimension, is sent to Earth for training after her exuberant use of magic causes a dimensional rift. She befriends Marco Diaz, a human boy, and together they navigate high school, battle interdimensional villains, and try to keep Star's wand and magic out of the wrong hands, all while dealing with her ex-boyfriend, the evil Prince Ludo.
