From Beyond

Two scientists, Dr. Edward Pretorius and his assistant Crawford Tillinghast, develop a machine called the Resonator, designed to stimulate the pineal gland and allow humans to perceive other dimensions. When the machine is activated, it unleashes a horrific entity that kills Pretorius and drives Tillinghast insane. A year later, Detective Running Galen investigates Tillinghast's death, only to find himself and his team drawn into the same terrifying reality, facing grotesque creatures and the reanimated, mutated form of Pretorius.
