Kurata, a migrant laborer, works at a construction site. His mother and younger sister, Yasuko, are back home, but Yasuko is practically ill from the shock of being raped. One day, after receiving a telegram informing him of Yasuko's death, he gets drunk and wanders the streets, where he meets Momoko, a prostitute at a shady bar.
