A New York stripper makes a bet with her boyfriend, a country singer, that he can't become a star. If he fails, she'll win him. If he succeeds, she'll win his freedom. He decides to go to Nashville to prove himself, but encounters many obstacles along the way. He enlists the help of a country singer and songwriter, and together they try to make him a star.
