To save his friend, Alice must retrieve a magical scepter from Time himself, a being who guards the Chronosphere, which allows anyone to travel back through time.

Critical Reception

Alice Through the Looking Glass received largely negative reviews from critics, with many finding the plot convoluted and the visual effects overwhelming. While some appreciated the performances, particularly Johnny Depp's, the film was generally seen as a disappointing follow-up to its predecessor, failing to recapture the magic and charm.

What Reviewers Say

  • Visually overstuffed and narratively muddled, the film struggles to recapture the whimsy of its predecessor.
  • Performances are a mixed bag, with Johnny Depp's eccentric portrayal of the Mad Hatter drawing some attention.
  • The story is often difficult to follow, lacking a clear emotional core or compelling stakes.

Google audience: Audiences found the film visually impressive but criticized its confusing storyline and lack of the charm that made the first movie enjoyable. Many felt it was a step down, with some enjoying the characters but overall finding it a forgettable sequel.
