Five hundred years after being imprisoned under a mountain, the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, is freed by the Tang Monk Xuanzang. Bound to Xuanzang by a magical headband, Sun Wukong must protect him on his perilous journey to India to obtain sacred Buddhist scriptures. Along the way, they face formidable demons and overcome numerous trials, forging an unlikely partnership.
