Set in 1812 London, the series follows James Keziah Delaney, a mysterious and adventurous explorer who returns to Britain after years in Africa. Delaney is believed to be dead, but he reappears with a mysterious inheritance, a haunted past, and a dangerous set of gems. He finds himself up against the powerful East India Company and the Crown, who both seek to control his inherited land, Nootka Sound.
