In 1959, just before the Cuban Revolution, a wealthy British plantation owner hires a mercenary, Robert Dapes, to help him escape Cuba with his family and fortune. Dapes, however, has his own agenda, which involves his former lover, a revolutionary named Teresa. As the revolution intensifies, Dapes finds himself torn between his mercenary duties, his lingering feelings for Teresa, and the unfolding chaos of a nation in turmoil.
