A widowed retired math teacher, who believes he is dying, decides to adopt a dog. He finds an abandoned Golden Retriever and names him "Rocket". The dog's unconditional love and his burgeoning relationship with his quirky neighbor help him to re-evaluate his life and his own mortality.
