One day, young Tom found a whistle at home and enjoyed playing it. He couldn't understand why his mother took it away from him in anger and threw it away. The embittered Tom leaves home, and so begins a series of adventures, at the end of which he not only saves the country from invasion by Danish troops and wins the hand of his beloved, Princess Olwen, but also finds his father.
