Plot Summary

In the kingdom of Krasovice, the vain King Kazisvět VI is desperate to marry off his beautiful but fiercely independent daughter, Princess Lada, who has declared she will only marry a prince who can sing her a song about her beauty. Many princes attempt this impossible feat, but all fail. Meanwhile, a simple but talented shepherd boy named Jan arrives, who has fallen in love with Lada from afar and secretly learned to sing.
