In the distant future, humanity has expanded to the stars and relies on advanced robots called I-Machines for labor. When a young hacker named Masutani Kaito is caught illegally downloading data, he's given a choice: go to prison or join the ID-0 unit, a group of criminals forced to pilot obsolete I-Machines in dangerous missions. Kaito reluctantly joins, finding himself alongside a diverse and often argumentative team, including the stoic Alice, the gruffurar Ryo, and the enigmatic Rei.
