Armageddon

When an asteroid the size of Texas is discovered heading for Earth, NASA recruits a group of deep-core drillers, led by oil tycoon Harry Stamper, to travel to the asteroid and detonate a nuclear bomb, splitting it in two and saving humanity. Stamper's team must race against time, facing numerous setbacks and personal challenges, to complete their impossible mission before the asteroid impacts.

Armageddon was a commercial success but received largely negative reviews from critics, who often cited its over-the-top action, scientific inaccuracies, and convoluted plot. Audiences, however, were more receptive to its spectacle and emotional core, making it a significant blockbuster of its time.
